Summer Fridays, Revisions Letters, and a Giveaway Winner

Summer Fridays!
Today begins Summer Fridays at the day-job. This means that if I have met all my deadlines and finished all my designery work for the week, I can leave at 2pm. Score! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this wonderful treat. As someone who drives in at the crack of dawn (well, not literally, but I consider 5am pretty early) and doesn’t get back home until close to six or seven, this is like being handed five extra hours on a silver platter. Actually, that’s exactly what it is. Five free hours. Look, I’m already putting them to good use by using one of them to write this post.

Revision Letters!
Also, in case you failed to check your calendars, it is now June. This is the month I get my revision letter for LAICOS. How I am feeling can only be described as equal parts excitement and horror. I can’t wait. I really can’t. I’m so excited to see how editor Erica thinks I can make this story stronger. But at the same time, I know it’s going to be a lot of hard work. I’m prepared for facepalming and headdesking and wrangling my story into submission. I’m ready. Scratch that. Almost ready. I need to stock up on coffee and chocolate and other caffeinated foods first. But in all seriousness, I am so excited to dig back into LAICOS and Gray’s world. I was sort of starting to miss him.

Giveaway Winner!
And lastly, I hosted a little giveaway this week for THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE by Jandy Nelson. I so loved this book and wanted to share it with everyone but since that would put a serious dent in my wallet, I decided to give just one copy away. Random.org picked a random winner, and Maggie has scored this wonderful book. I’d asked everyone to describe to me their favorite sky, and this is what Maggie had to say:

THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE giveaway winner

So congrats, Maggie! I will be reaching out to you via email so that I can get you a copy of this fantastic, raw, and absolutely gripping read! To everyone else, I’m sorry I couldn’t send each and every one of you a copy, but thank you so much for sharing your favorite skies with me. I could write a poem with your comments, they were so beautiful. And I encourage you all to pick up a copy of THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE. Jandy has a way with words and you will not regret it.

I’m off to enjoy the rest of my afternoon. (Thank you, day job!) Have a great weekend everyone!
